As the successful entrepreneurs we are, we should be aware of this new alarming tendency of becoming over-informed and analytical and get stuck without being able to do anything. This is what is called paralysis by analysis.
Today we can check our bank account in seconds using our smartphone. We can get the latest news. We’re very well informed because we live in the IT or the Information Technologies age. And it is not a bad thing – it can be very beneficial for us, but we should not over-inform ourselves. We should beware and guard ourselves from the paralysis by analysis phenomena.
Paralysis By Analysis Striking Hard In The Information Technology Age
Paralysis by analysis happens when you have a task to do but you begin to over-analyze it and get so frustrated that you can’t even make the first step towards the resolution of the task. And this is a problem we’re faced today as entrepreneurs because we have so much information and such an easy access to our bank account, the traffic situation on the road, the news, etc that we can get scared and paralyzed because of knowing too much in so little time. We can get overwhelmed by all the information and the preoccupations it can carry with itself. Here is a simple example:
Being Too Much Aware About Your Bank Account And Your Bills Is Counter-Productive
Alright, you have a bank account and you can access it easily using your smartphone. Alright, it’s cool and useful… BUT!! Don’t overdo it!
If you’re going to be checking your bank account every now and then you will get overly anxious and preoccupied about your financial position and that is not very beneficial for your performance, your productivity and your mental health.
The same goes with a project you have to accomplish in let’s say 2 weeks – if you begin to over-analyze your project you will get so scared of the “possible problems” that you won’t be able to do anything right. So don’t over-analyze and just start doing and making the first steps so you can allow you project to get easier for you and get more momentum. As you already know from everysax, the more you do an activity the more momentum that activity gets in your life. And the more momentum a business activity gets, the more money you make. So keep doing your productive business activities and they will become your second nature and you won’t be able to live without them. Your business will become your hobby and your whole lifestyle. That is what we’re aiming for as the successful entrepreneurs we are.
So let’s get clear: don’t get too much information in too little time and don’t over-analyze your goals and your tasks so you can avoid the paralysis by analysis phenomena.
